Discover Day Camp

Today was very exciting!! Our friends Mr. Bush and Ms. Parrish from the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) came to visit us on their big yellow bus! Ms. Parrish showed our campers a funny cartoon that taught about train safety. Our campers learned to Stop, Look, and Listen when they are near a railroad track. After that, Mr. Bush let us sit on his bus!! Ms. Parrish taught us how to sit properly: Bottom to bottom, back to back, keep your hands and feet to self. She showed us the five security cameras on the bus, too. Then Mr. Bush let us listen to the bus talk! It was a lot of fun!! And our campers even got DART coloring books to take home! Hockaday wants to extend a special thanks to our guests for brightening our day!!

Camp Invention

Speaking of technology, our Camp Invention kids are having a blast digging into their take apart projects. We’ve seen radios, telephones, and many more fun items that are getting broken down, only to get rebuilt by the end of the week!! There was also some fun with water balloons today!

Discover Day Camp

It was another great splash day here at Discover! And the week will only keep getting better!! Word on the street is that we have some big visitors this week. Stay tuned for pictures with our fun new friends!

Hello everyone! We hope that you had a great Father’s Day. Thanks for joining us here at Summer at Hockaday for our third week of camps. Check out our Day 1 pictures in the gallery!

Discover Day Camp

Today our three and four year old campers had lots of fun scooping up yarn balls in the gym. They also enjoyed the shady weather on the playground. They even got to do some cooking, too.

Creative Arts Camp

Our CAC campers are in their second week of camp and are putting the final touches on their production of The Summer Camp Musical. Today in Ms. Kessee’s class, the campers learned about rhythm and beats! And of course, they always have fun doing relays in the gym and enjoying breaks in the Rec Room. We’re looking forward to seeing y’all for their performance on Friday!

Camp Invention

Today was our very first day of Camp Invention! These future inventors enjoyed beginning their take apart projects. Each camper brought an object to take apart and put back together!! This camp exemplifies a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, math) education through its combination of educational and creative activities centering on invention.

Explorations & Math and Writing Institute Electives

We had some exciting new classes begin today, like Cooking Italian and Junior Journalists. We have a great variety programs for these first through tenth grade campers, including physical activities, culinary camps, educational programs, and hobbies. We hope you’ll continue joining us throughout the rest of the summer!

What beautiful weather!!

Let’s have fun in the sun.

Week 2 at Hockaday is already done!

Discover Day Camp had a great day 5. They sang, played, and did arts and crafts. Each camper had fun on our nature walk. They saw lots of squirrels, birds, and beautiful flowers. They played games with balls in the big gym with Ms. Kennedy! Creative Arts Camp continued working on The Summer Camp Musical, which they will perform next week on Friday. They also had a fun splash time outside!!

Our Exploration Campers finished up a great week of activities. See the picture at the bottom for Spotlight on: American Girls Rule! And don’t forget our Math and Writing Institute campers!! These older kids have been working hard all week to continue developing their math and writing skills. They enjoyed playing games and using technology to reinforce their lessons!
